As ORG's parliamentary briefing explains, the Government's 'Data Protection and Digital Information Bill' will gut the UK’s basic privacy laws enshrined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and spell the end of countless protections that prevent data discrimination.
From workers and children to NHS patients and migrants, GDPR protects us all. But if the Government has their way, our basic rights to challenge data abuse will disappear.
Without GDPR, students couldn’t stop unfair algorithms from grading their A-levels and workers couldn’t challenge robo-dismissals. Victims of sexual violence would be subject to digital strip searches by Police and job applicants would face racist automated recruitment tools.
These are just a few of the vital protections on the Government’s chopping block.
We need you to stand with us to save our privacy. Join the campaign to stop data discrimination!
