Invite your MP to ORG's event on AI in immigration

AI is being tested and trialed on some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our society - those who are in the immigration system.

From live facial recognition at borders to summarising personal interviews of people fleeing persecution, AI is is encoding secrecy and bias in the immigration system.

We need MPs to understand the risks and harms arising from the use of opaque, unaccountable and harmful AI in life-changing decisions.

So ORG is holding an event for MPs on Tuesday 13 October, where we will explain these harms. Can you email your MP and ask them to attend?

Help us meet our goal of 200 emails sent. Let's make sure every MP sees an email!

We ask for a phone number, as some MPs have stated they require constituents provide one. If you choose to give your phone number it will be added along with your address in the email to the MP.
We ask for your full address because MPs will only respond to messages they know are from their own constituents.

Why your MP should attend ORG's meeting

Deciding whether someone can or cannot seek refuge in the UK is one of the most serious and life-changing decisions that the state can make about an individual. The processes that lead to that decision must be transparent, fair and accountable.

Some of the ways AI is being used include: live facial recognition used at borders and to ‘estimate’ the age of children seeking asylum; opaque and unaccountable tools used to summarise highly personal interviews given by people fleeing trauma and persecution; and automated tools that claim to determine if marriages are real or entered into to get round immigration restrictions.

We need to regulate  AI and ban certain uses but first we need to convince our MPs why we need to do this. Please tell your MP to attend ORG's event on Tuesday 13 October so they can find out more.
